I have been having some awesome hunts this season, which is due at least in part to the Ozonics HR200. When the wind is blowing on the back of my neck while I’m watching deer, it certainly adds some excitement. My heart starts pounding, and I think “This is it, I’m busted!”, then unbelievably the deer don’t react to me. “Magic!” It’s not magic though, it is a sweet little piece of technology that hardly even takes up any space in my backpack.
The Ozonics HR200 is a personal ozone machine. Why do you need an ozone machine? Ozone machines create ozone, and ozone will allow you to hunt scent free when used properly. Scent free is what we are all striving for with the suits, and sprays we use. What if you really could forget about wind direction, and just hunt? Beating a deer’s nose is difficult, but not impossible. Ozone doesn’t mask odors, it destroys them. Poof! Gone! There are no artificial odors, just clean air. The HR200 is simple to set up and use, just press the button and hunt. The Ozonics HR200 runs on a rechargeable battery, and it is virtually silent. The fan inside the unit is audible, but the deer would have to be in the stand with you to be able to hear it.

It starts when happy, clean oxygen (O2) gets pulled into the Ozonics unit. The Ozonics unit converts O2 into unstable, ozone (O3). The heavier, unstable ozone falls. The third oxygen molecule is shed and leaving clean, happy oxygen (O2). The unstable third molecule is clingy and needy. It attaches itself to whatever it comes in contact with, as in your evil human scent molecules, and oxidizes them, leaving only clean, happy oxygen for the deer to smell. If you want to know what goes on inside the unit, take some science classes.
Ozone machines have been around for years. They are regularly used to remove odors from cars, clothes, and homes. After floods or fires, clean up crews often use ozone machines to remove the odors from the building. These units are not portable enough to be practical to hunters; that is where Ozonics shines. Launched in 2007, the original HR100 changed hunting forever. With a boost mode for open air treestand hunting, the HR200 is only about the size of a pair of binoculars. The rechargeable battery is another winner, because most of my stands are too far to run an extension cord to.
